The Study at University of Chicago is currently seeking a part-time House Attendant to ensure a sophisticated guest experience by way of cleaning common areas, replacing malfunctioned units and furniture, responding to guest requests and inquiries, having the ability and knowhow to multi-task and prioritize assignments, coordinating with other personnel to ensure that both guest & internal concerns/issues regarding cleanliness and requests are handled with accuracy and in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to all guest requests via iPhone and verbally.
  • Clean door glass and sanitize door handles.
  • Sweep and mop floor including banquet/living room stairs.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas including area rugs and velvet sofas.
  • Dust bookshelves, computer table, windowsills, base of the standing lamps
  • Sanitize all end tables, writing desk and front desk counter.
  • Sanitize elevator cab buttons and handrails.
  • Polish walls and mop floor
  • Clean meeting spaces: wipe tables & countertops, clean windows, and vacuum
  • Clean baseboards, mirrors & vents
  • Clean bathrooms: countertops, sinks, toilets, and mop floors
  • Replenish C Folds, soap, lotion & toilet tissue.
  • Wipe down all machines in fitness center.
  • Ensure fitness equipment is placed neatly.
  • Replenish water, hand towels, wipes & soap and remove used items.
  • Clean/Dust top of television, microwaves, & fridge in breakroom
  • Place linen, remove trash & miscellaneous items on every landing.
  • Stock needed items whether on landings, storage closets, in rooms etc.
  • Assist in the removal of carpet and or furniture stains.
  • Report any damages, shortcomings, and disturbances to management.
  • Check and maintain chemical stock levels and inform management at moderate levels.
  • Periodically monitor work areas and guest facing areas to ensure cleanliness.
  • Comply with all rules regarding health and safety of guests and coworkers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Assist other team members to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and the hotel. 
  • Any other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager/Director of Rooms

Fundamentals

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  • The ability to positively communicate effectively with guests and team members verbally and/or in written form with basic English communication skills.
  • Ability to withstand continuous movement, regularly bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and moving up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and perform repetitive motions.
  • Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, and multitasking, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
